Winchester is a city in White River Township, Randolph County, Indiana, United States. The population was 4,935 at the 2010 census. The city is the county seat of Randolph County.

Winchester in Southern Victory[]

In 1941, during the Confederate invasion of Ohio in Operation Blackbeard, the U.S. Army established an airfield outside of Winchester. Jonathan Moss operated out of this field until it was abandoned when it came under long range artillery fire.[1]
