Triceratops BW

Triceratops is the name of a genus of herbivorous ceratopsid dinosaur that existed in the Late Cretaceous period in what is now North America. This genus was quadrupedal, with a large bony frill and three horns on its face (hence its name). There is debate as to which species belong in the genus, with two recognized.

The genus was first discovered in 1887, and subsequently classified in 1888 by paleontologist Othniel Marsh (who'd initially believed the fossil to be a prehistoric bison).

Triceratops in Chicxulub Asteroid Missed[]

Hornfaces and wild drosaws had been hunted to near extinction near Dodge City. This meant few small and middle sized raptors remained, nor Rannos.[1] The morning Havv and Rekek left Cycadia, they did see a small herd of hornfaces grazing and being stalked by some middle raptors. The hornfaces began forming a horn circle as the stage rode off so the two didn't know the outcome of the fight. It did attract a flock of circling huzzards since they would feast either way.[2]

Triceratops in "The Green Buffalo"[]

In an 1890 expedition to Wyoming, John Bell Hatcher discovered fossils of Triceratops, which he had shipped back east to his employer, Othniel Marsh.

Sometime later, a group of hunters from Lusk in Hatcher's employ passed through a time rift to the Cretaceous Period where they encountered a Triceratops. They killed the dinosaur, believing it to be some sort of diseased buffalo, and butchered its meat for their own use. They shared it with Hatcher when they were all back in Lusk. Hatcher never saw the carcass, and so ate the dinosaur without realizing just what it was he was eating.

Triceratops in "Running of the Bulls"[]

The running of the bulls was an annual festival in the Astilian city of Amblona. A herd of the large animals would be released in the street, while people ran in front or along side them. Naturally, given their tremendous size and prominent horns, people were seriously injured or killed during this event.

The running itself was connected to Astilia's worship of the god Thimras, who had the head of a bull and the body of a person. A priest and his acolytes would bless the bulls the day before the run. On the day of the run, they would cover the people running from snout to tail in white paint, to show Thimras their purity.

After the run, bullfighters fought some bulls to the death.
