Thomas Kenton was a scout from Virginia. In 1691, he and his sim companion Charles explored territory beyond the Virginia colony. Kenton took the opportunity to hunt spearfang cats, collecting their fangs for a bounty. Governor Lord Emerson personally appointed Kenton to go on an especially far-reaching expedition to the western frontier, because of his knowledge and experience, passing over several younger able-bodied candidates.
Unlike many in the Virginia colony, Kenton treated his sim with relative respect. This probably saved his life. Kenton was captured by a group of wild sims. Charles was able to track Kenton down, and rescue him. When asked about his decision, Charles admitted that he found the life of a wild sim to be boring, since they lacked many of the modern conveniences Charles had grown up in.
