The Land of the Ice People also known as the Austral Continent, was a polar land characterized by permafrost, tundra, and intense snowstorms. During the Derlavaian War, Algarve and Yanina invaded this continent in hopes of capturing its supplies of cinnabar, a resource needed to fuel magical weaponry.

Some Derlavian magic did not work properly in the Land of the Ice People: the Algarvian campaign on the austral continent was decisively beaten by Lagoan forces after the Algarvians attempted to use "Special Magecraft" (powered by mass human sacrifice) backfired and decimated their army.
