Well that sounds like it could be . . . mildly amusing. Turtle Fan 21:09, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

It could have been. Instead it was wildly irritating. TR 21:24, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
'Wildly irritating' is one way to describe it...FordPrefect42 23:20, November 15, 2015 (UTC)
Hey, look at that! At some point in the last seven years our timestamps have gon from a dd-mm-yyyy format to mm-dd-yyyy. Never noticed till this moment. Turtle Fan (talk) 00:00, November 16, 2015 (UTC)
Of course. This is America, pal. TR (talk) 00:03, November 16, 2015 (UTC)
And always has been. Yet the other format was once in place. Turtle Fan (talk) 01:26, November 16, 2015 (UTC)

The character template[]

The character template says the story is Science fiction, which is a little unhelpful. I think it would be better marked as "Time-travel set in OTL."

The story itself could have been an episode of the Twilight Zone revival that was going on in the late '80s. While most of his longer works are unfilmable, some of HT's shorts would make good mini-movies of that nature.JonathanMarkoff (talk) 07:15, September 15, 2016 (UTC)

Time-travel is a sub-set of Science Fiction. In this story's case, the local time changes to a particular period rather than someone traveling in time so its not what would conventionally be considered a time-travel story. I think leave the classification as is. ML4E (talk) 19:10, September 15, 2016 (UTC)
It would probably be good to add "set in OTL", as the gags are based on visiting historical settings, rather than ah or alien settings. Just saying sf is a bit misleading.JonathanMarkoff (talk) 20:43, September 15, 2016 (UTC)
Science fiction can be set on Earth. And if it's not AH, the term "OTL" loses its meaning. Turtle Fan (talk) 22:04, September 15, 2016 (UTC)
In this case, references to OTL history are part of the theme, and since this is HT, "set in OTL" would be very helpful in defining the story.JonathanMarkoff (talk) 22:43, September 15, 2016 (UTC)
The story is not AH but SF, therefore it should be clear that references to the past are OTL. There is no need to spell it out. ML4E (talk) 00:01, September 16, 2016 (UTC)
This. When you're reading a history book, does it keep saying "In OTL . . . "? OTL is only invoked when inviting comparison to ATLs. Turtle Fan (talk) 00:42, September 16, 2016 (UTC)
