Jonathan, if you have secured an early copy of the story, please refrain from creating anymore articles until well after its official publication date in June. If you have NOT read the story, it is MUCH too early to be creating this article on the strength of a 2-line summary. Remember, this is HT we are talking about. Jefferson could easily be a stand in for Washington state in its entirety, not the dream-wish OTL state composed of southern Oregon and Northern California. TR (talk) 20:43, May 18, 2016 (UTC)

I quite agree, if someone hasn't read a work, then they shouldn't create articles like this. Bad enough to create them based on inferences from articles already here, but unless Jonathan has an advanced copy, this needs to be deleted. ML4E (talk) 17:41, May 19, 2016 (UTC)

I'm cool with deleting. Turtle Fan (talk) 01:08, May 22, 2016 (UTC)
Since we will need the redirect, I'm ok with keeping that. Again, unless Jonathan lucked into this story early... TR (talk) 02:52, May 22, 2016 (UTC)
Sorry, for being late to comment. Big two-four weekend in Canada this weekend. I do agree with deleting it as I mentioned above. The article was meaningless speculation for our project here. That's the way internet rumors start; someone reads it in what should be a reputable wiki and runs with it. ML4E (talk) 15:26, May 24, 2016 (UTC)

Restored[]

As the story in Thirty Days Later is set in this very state, and that volume has been published, even if "Typecasting" hasn't, I went ahead and restored.  TR (talk) 14:57, June 8, 2016 (UTC)

Name[]

I'm not sure when this happened or how I missed it at he time, but why does the article title describe Jefferson as a Pacific state? To differentiate from stories about Jefferson the Atlantic state? I'd be for retitling this to "Jefferson (State)." Turtle Fan (talk) 01:39, April 3, 2020 (UTC)

It could be confusing with the other hypothetical states called Jefferson, particularly the west Texas one.Matthew Babe Stevenson (talk) 01:49, April 3, 2020 (UTC)
I'd suggest story-specific titles, then. Turtle Fan (talk) 07:59, April 3, 2020 (UTC)
I prefer to leave as is. More than half of the proposed states in U.S. history were tentatively called Jefferson. HT explicitly stated he used the Pacific Northwest one. He started it a generation earlier than OTL, and inhabited it with cryptids, but in all ways that matter (geography, politics, even the flag), it is the proposed OTL state. The name we used clarifies all that. TR (talk) 13:32, April 3, 2020 (UTC)
As this is the only Jefferson with which HT has engaged, I don't see there being likely cause for confusion. Turtle Fan (talk) 04:36, April 4, 2020 (UTC)
"Jefferson (Pacific State)" is also one of Wikipedia's redirects for this proposed state, to distinguish it from all those others.Matthew Babe Stevenson (talk) 19:26, April 3, 2020 (UTC)
Okay? Turtle Fan (talk) 04:36, April 4, 2020 (UTC)
