- The original drive by the CS to split the US reached Lake Erie at Sandusky, Ohio. Then Operation Coalscuttle drove east towards Philadelphia. Morrell intended to defend from shoreline cities supplied by the US Navy. This might have included Erie but it would have been one of a half dozen he used.
