Stephens in Southern Victory

A U.S. company led by Captain Hubert Rhodes and including Lt. Boris Lavochkin's platoon attacked Stephens in late 1943. This was a second raid from Monroe, Georgia to the west, with a larger force than the first one, which hit Stephens for the first time. Therefore the town was better prepared with a combined force of home guards and Mexican troops but they could not stand against the U.S. forces. The town went up in flames.
