The Second Iranian Intervention was a war in the home timeline in the 21st century. The United States and the European Union had sent troops into Iran, but things didn't go the way they planned.
Randolph Brooks had served in the intervention. When he and Justin Monroe were trapped in an alternate where they witnessed the Ohio-Virginia War of 2097, Brooks was able to give Justin some insight into tactics and weaponry.
