William Henry Fitzhugh "Rooney" Lee (May 31, 1837 – October 15, 1891), often spelled "Roony" among friends and family, was the second son of Robert and Mary Lee. He was a planter, a Confederate cavalry General in the American Civil War, and later a Congressman from Virginia.

Rooney Lee in The Guns of the SouthEdit

Confederate General Rooney Lee[1] was captured by the Federals during the Second American Revolution, and was released in a prisoner exchange shortly before the end of the war.[2] Four years later, Rooney walked in the retinue of his father's inauguration on March 4, 1868. During the ensuing Richmond Massacre, in which Rooney's mother was among the dead, Rooney survived with a wound to the hand.[3]
