Rising

The Rising was a revolution which grew out of a resistance movement in Ireland during the Great War. Supported and armed by the United States and Germany, Irishmen led by General Michael Collins rose up against British forces occupying the country. The British, desperately fighting in both France and Canada, could not afford to suppress the Rising, and the British pulled out of Ireland. The Republic of Ireland was declared and was immediately granted diplomatic recognition by members of the Central Powers alliance system.
