Designed from 1933 and produced from 1936, the type was intended as a light infantry support tank, equipping autonomous tank battalions, that would be allocated to individual infantry divisions to assist them in executing offensive operations.
Renault R35 in The War That Came EarlyEdit
The R35 was major light tank used by the French army as the Germans charged into France in early 1939. While fighting along the Marne River, Luc Harcourt was glad to see them when they showed up. Although it was relatively well-armoured it was also painfully slow; But they were still a threat to the German infantry when they lacked any armour of their own.
