Pholus was a centaur who led an expedition into the unexplored interior of Eastern Europe in search of tin. He did not find any; rather, he made contact with vampires in the territory north of the centaurs' homeland, and with the Lapiths in the land north of the vampires' territory.
Literary comment[]
As with Cheiron, Pholus bears the name of one of Greek mythology's better known centaurs but does not follow his character arc.
This character may be the same as Pholus (Thessalonica).
