Pesskrag was a physicist of the Race on Home.

Shortly after the American starship Admiral Peary arrived in Home's orbit, Ttomalss, one of the Race's diplomats for dealing with the Tosevite mission began receiving transmissions from an old colleague on Tosev 3, Felless, identifying several physics experiments performed by the Tosevites which seemed more advanced than anything with which the Race's physicists were familiar. Ttomalss asked Pesskrag to investigate, which she did only reluctantly and half-heartedly.

When she finally did duplicate the experiments, she was shocked by what the results seemed to suggest.

When the Commodore Perry arrived at Home shortly thereafter, the impossible results suggested by Pesskrag's experiments were confirmed: Contrary to the Theory of Relativity, it was possible for a starship to travel faster than light. Unlike the other members of the Race, Pesskrag marveled over the Tosevites' technological achievement and the potentials behind FTL technology, and later apologized to Ttomalss for previously doubting his fellow researcher on Tosevite advancement.

Pesskrag was charged with developing FTL technology for the Race, but she did not see how, even moving recklessly by the Race's standards, the development project could be completed in less than seventy-five of Home's years. She even proposed ideas of either buying or stealing FTL technology from the Tosevites to quickening the research; though Ttomalss and Atvar were very uncertain if that were to happen.
