The People's Liberation Army (PLA) is the unified military organization of all land, sea, strategic missile and air forces of the People's Republic of China. The PLA was established on August 1, 1927 as the military arm of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

The PLA is the world's largest military force, with approximately 3 million members, and has the world's largest (active) standing army.

The People's Liberation Army was the military arm of the Chinese Communist Party. They waged war first against the Kuomintang and then the Japanese with limited success. After the arrival of the Race's Conquest Fleet, they quickly became the largest Chinese resistance, but they were unable to represent China at the Peace of Cairo due to their lack of an explosive-metal bomb. Despite the Race's refusal to recognize the Chinese communists, they were a constant thorn in its side in the generations that followed.
