The Olive Branch was a Union steamer. At the Battle of Fort Pillow, the Olive Branch attempted to leave the Mississippi River and land reinforcements on the banks of Coal Creek. Instead, Confederate troops under the immediate command of Colonel Clark Barteau took up positions along the creek, and managed to keep the troops from landing.
