New Zealand survived the war against the Race's Conquest Fleet despite the conquest of its much larger neighbor Australia due to the Race's tendency to avoid invading islands. The Race recognized the country's sovergnity at the Peace of Cairo because of its isolated location and its ties with Britain and the United States who would undoubted provide strong political support for the Anglophone nation as they did for Canada. Australia and South Africa could not be vouched for in this manner since they were already occupied by the Race and contained more valuable land for colonization.
