Mooers is a town in Clinton County, New York, United States. The population was 3,404 at the 2000 census. The town is named after Benjamin Mooers, an early settler.
Mooers in Southern Victory[]
Mooers was close to the border with the Republic of Quebec, situated just south of Montreal. Because of its location, a major railroad line connecting the two countries ran through Mooers and so the U.S. established a Customs Inspection post in town. In 1941, Dr. Leonard O'Doull was detained briefly by customs inspectors while his story of rejoining the U.S. Army Medical Corps was checked out.[1]
