Annual report of the American Museum of Natural History for the year (1916) (17810089074)-1-
Monoclonius (meaning "single stem"; referring to the teeth, which have a single root) was a ceratopsian dinosaur from the Judith River Formation of Late Cretaceous Montana and Canada, discovered by Edward Drinker Cope.

Subsequent discoveries in the century-and-a-half since have called into question whether Monoclonius was in fact a distinct genus or a specimen of another known kind such as Centrosaurus or Styracosaurus.

Monoclonius in "The Green Buffalo"Edit

In 1890, John Bell Hatcher found a new species of dinosaur. When he telegraphed his employer, Othniel Marsh, Marsh gloated that Hatcher's find was probably bigger and better than monoclonius.
