Midway
From Turtledove
Midway is an island in the Pacific Ocean.
[edit] Midway in Days of Infamy
Midway became Japan's easternmost territory after it was pushed out of Hawaii by the United States in 1943. Japan continued bombing runs on Hawaii from Midway, which made it the next target for American military invasion.
[edit] Midway in Southern Victory
Midway became a territory of the United States following the Great War. Although taken by Japan early in the Second Great War, it was retaken by US forces unopposed after the Japanese disengaged from its war with the United States to attack Britain's Asian colonies.
[edit] Midway in Worldwar
Japan took Midway unopposed after the U.S. Navy withdrew from the island to defend the American West Coast after the Race invaded Earth. Japan discontinued its offensive soon after taking Midway when the Race bombed its Home Islands. It remained under Japanese rule after the Peace of Cairo, one of the few pieces of its empire Japan was able to retain.
Liu Han visited Midway in the early 1960s on her way to visit the United States to gain support and weapons for Mao Tse-Tung's Communist resistance forces, as did Rance Auerbach and Penny Summers on their journey from Free France to Canada in 1966.
