Michael Scott was the loader for the 1st Richmond Howitzers throughout the Great War. He was with Jake Featherston as the Army of Northern Virginia retreated back into the Confederacy. He also bore witness to Featherston's increasing bitterness, firing shells on retreating black troops at Round Hill and Independence Hill. At one point, Scott lied to Featherston, claiming that they were out of canister when Featherston wanted to kill a Confederate soldier.
