Mexico City is the capital city of Mexico. It is the most important economic, industrial and cultural center in the country, and the most populous city.
The city was originally built on an island of Lake Texcoco by the Aztecs in 1325 as Tenochtitlan, which was almost completely destroyed in the 1521 siege of Tenochtitlan and subsequently redesigned and rebuilt by the Spanish.
In 1963, Rance Auerbach and Penny Summers were transferred from Monterrey to Mexico City after they were arrested by the Race for ginger-smuggling. They were then sent to German-occupied France to help nab another smuggler, rather than face prison. When German officials arrested them, the Race arranged for the two to be extradited back to Mexico City.
