Matthew Radcliffe was from Avalon, Atlantis. At the beginning of the Atlantean War of Independence, Radcliffe represented his settlement in the Atlantean Assembly. Radcliffe joined the delegation that formally requested Victor Radcliff lead the Army of the Atlantean Assembly.[1]

Radcliffe and Radcliff were relatives, although neither had met before that meeting.[2] Given the letter "e" at the end of his name, Radcliffe was almost certainly descended from Avalon pirate Red Rodney Radcliffe. Victor Radcliff sensed some of the rogue in his distant relative.[3]

After the Assembly had fled New Hastings ahead of General William Howe's attack, Radcliffe met up with Victor Radcliff at Horsham after the Royal Navy dropped off Copperskin mercenaries to attack Avalon.[4] Victor Radcliff promised 100 soldiers to help keep the strategic port city safe.[5] Matthew Radcliffe was also indirectly responsible for Victor Radcliff's decision to send Thomas Paine to Terranova to stir up dissent in British possessions there.[6]
