Maslama bin Abdul-Malik (685– 24 December 738), was a famous Muslim military commander of the Arabs heralding from the Umayyad Dynasty. A very pious man, he led a Jihad against the Byzantines, launching the failed Second Siege of Constantinople.

Maslama led the army that successfully overran Constantinople in 717, leading to the fall of the Roman Empire.[1]
