Mark Davenport was a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. He was part of the mission that finally killed Reinhard Heydrich in 1947. When a firefight broke out, Davenport ordered a unit of men, including Private Bernie Cobb, to hold their positions.[1] This put Cobb in the right place to kill Heydrich when the Reichsprotektor attempted to use the firefight to cover his escape. Davenport received 1/4 of the $1 million bounty on Heydrich's head. Davenport also received the Silver Star and was promoted to First Lieutenant by General Lucius Clay.[2]
