Indianapolis

From Turtledove

Indianapolis is the capital of the U.S. state of Indiana. It is Indiana's largest city and is the 14th largest city in the U.S., the third largest city in the Midwest, and the second most populous state capital.

[edit] Indianapolis in Southern Victory

Indianapolis was targeted for bombing raids by the Confederate States during the Second Great War. However, the C.S. didn't damage the city very much, concentrating on major cities in the east.

As the area was relatively secure, the United States set up several POW camps for Confederate prisoners near Indianapolis, including Camp Liberty!.

Indianapolis was one of the U.S cities Jake Featherston idly threatened to destroy with a superbomb in 1944.

[edit] Indianapolis in Worldwar

Indianpolis was destroyed by the Race in 1966.

After Fleetlord Atvar learned that President of the United States Earl Warren had ordered the sneak attack on the Race's Colonization Fleet, he presented Warren with a choice of two ultimata. One was for the United States to abandon space exploration, the other was to submit to the destruction of an American city with an atomic bomb. Much to Atvar's surprise and disappointment, Warren chose the latter, and Indianapolis was selected as the target.

Plans to rebuild Indianapolis were in place almost immediately, reaching completion by the early 21st century. The new city plan included the Earl Warren Memorial Park.
