"I Remember Your Name" was an American sentimental song that became a hit in the 1970s. Thomas and Irene Bushell thought of the song as "theirs." After Irene betrayed Thomas, leading to their divorce, the song felt like salt in his wounds.

In 1995, Thomas Bushell, now a Colonel of the Royal American Mounted Police, was traveling on the Empire Builder when he heard RAM Captain Samuel Stanley playing the song on the lounge piano. Stanley stopped playing, fearing that he had upset Bushell. Bushell reassured him it was all right and told him to "go ahead and play it, Sam".[1]
