Hugh Fenner (d. 1452) was the master salter aboard the St. George. He accompanied the ship on its first voyage to Atlantis, and became the first Englishman to die there when a red-crested eagle attacked him while he was hunting for honkers. He left a pregnant wife and five children. He also died without the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, a fact that disturbed his comrades, since it meant he would face God's judgment with his sins unabsolved. They said prayers over his impromptu grave to help mitigate the results of this misfortune.
