Hillary Griffith was a sailor onboard the USS Rumsfeld during the Sino-American War of 2117. Her battle station was in the sensors room of the ship. She monitored readouts on an instrument panel ready to sing like Timberlake if they detected anything. She wasn't sure who he was but that was what her CPO wanted and that's what she would do.
The Rumsfeld was on a high speed, covert run toward Catalina Island in order to shell Chinese positions when the 105mm gun in the forward turret began firing and the engines went to full emergency stop. Nevertheless, the Rumsfeld crashed into a giant brick wall that suddenly appeared in front of it.
Griffith was thrown from her chair despite her seatbelt and broke her wrist. With the ship slowly sinking, she went up to the main deck and saw that the bow was crushed as though it had run into something hard but saw no sign of a wall. Crewmates helped her into a life raft and she watched the Rumsfeld sink as they putt-putted away.
