Herborn was the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Grelz. When Grelz was absorbed into Unkerlant, Herborn continued as the capital of the Duchy. During the Derlavaian War, the Kingdom was reconstituted under Algarvian supervision, with Herborn as its capital once again. It became a focal point of the fighting, and was heavily pummeled by both sides until the Algarvians were driven out of Unkerlant once and for all.
