Haole, in the Hawaiian language, means "foreign" or "foreigner". It is also used in Hawaiian Pidgin as a term meaning "white" or "Caucasian." Haole is a highly charged word and can be used descriptively or derisively.

Haole in Days of InfamyEdit

During the Japanese occupation of Hawaii, the term haole tended to be more negative, as the white population, formerly the ruling class of the islands under American rule, found themselves at the mercy of the Japanese and their native Hawaiian collaborators.
