Hamilton is a city in Butler County, southwestern Ohio. The population was 60,690 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Butler County. The city is near the metropolitan areas of Cincinnati and Dayton.

In 1943 Michael Pound was personally promoted by General John Wade to Second Lieutenant in Hamilton. It was also in this town that Pound first saw and inspected a new Mark III barrel, five of which he would soon be commanding with his new rank.
