Friedrich "Fritz" Pfeffer (30 April 1889 – 20 December 1944) was a German dentist and Jewish refugee who hid with Anne Frank during the Nazi Occupation of the Netherlands, and who perished in the Neuengamme concentration camp in Northern Germany. Pfeffer was given the pseudonym Albert Dussel in Anne's diary, and remains known as such in many editions and adaptations of the publication.

Fritz Pfeffer in "The Eighth-Grade History Class Visits the Hebrew Home for the Aging"Edit

Fritz Pfeffer was one of several people who hid with Anne Berkowitz's family in the Secret Annexe during World War II. In 2013, Berkowitz shared her memories of Pfeffer, who shared a room with her, with the eighth-grade history class from Junipero Middle School. Her memories weren't pleasant: she'd found him a nuisance, and she informed the students that Pfeffer was in love with himself, had hoarded food and complained that Anne made too much noise.

Nonetheless, the group was able to remain hidden until the liberation of the Netherlands, and by agreement, they all went their own separate ways.

Berkowitz expected that the eighth graders were thinking that her relationship with Pfeffer was inappropriate because of their shared room.
