Harry Turtledove: Index > Translation into German

Hi Turtles,

I am a big HT fan from Germany, and have read quite a few of his books, and am still buying them from Amazon. One of my friends is a big fan of such literature, too, but his English isn't good enough to borrow English-language books from me and read them. I searched the net, and found no translations of HT books into German. I find this astonishing, since quite a lot of books that aren't nearly as good, and whose authors not half as famous as HT, are being translated (alas, often badly, especially SF).

Do any of you know the reasons?

Lieber Herr Turtledove, in case you're reading this: It's never Doktor Professor Soundso, as in some of your books, it's always Professor Dr. (the higher title first). I used to work in Academia - I should know (and I'm German, incidentally) ;-)

Have a great spring, everybody. Greets from Germany.

I don't know why there are no German translations of Turtledove works. Presumably, German publishers don't believe there will be a market for his works in German. But that's just a guess. TR (talk) 18:38, March 9, 2014 (UTC)
