Pontiac is a city in Livingston County, Illinois, United States. The population was 11,931 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Livingston County. The town is also the setting of the 1984 movie, Grandview, U.S.A. It is one of several cities named for the Ottawa chief, Pontiac.

Jens Larssen bicycled through Pontiac on his way to the Metallurgical Laboratory after the early stages of the Battle of Chicago. He had previously heard of the town in connection to its prison, which he saw in ruins with a wrecked American fighter plane lying nearby. The rest of the town was in no better shape, with machine gun bullets dotting the courthouse, and a monument to the city's namesake broken in pieces.[1]
