Nirvana was an American rock band that was formed by singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain (1967-1994) and bassist Krist Novoselic (b. 1965) in Aberdeen, Washington. Nirvana went through a succession of drummers, with the longest-lasting being Dave Grohl (b. 1969), who joined the band in 1990. The band achieved its greatest popularity in the 1990s. However, the troubled Cobain committed suicide in 1994, and the band broke up after.

Nirvana in The Gladiator[]

After the Soviet Union won the Cold War, Nirvana was one of several bands whose music had been deemed counterrevolutionary to Marxist-Leninist-Stalinsim, and so their albums could not be purchased legally in most countries. In 2097, Annarita Crosetti and Gianfranco Mazzilli found several Nirvana recordings at a record store in San Marino along with other counterrevolutionary musicians of the previous century. Gianfranco suggested that they should buy some, but Annarita vetoed that idea, convinced that Eduardo Caruso's entry into The Three Sixes had probably attracted too much attention.[1]
