Hatton William Sumners (May 30, 1875 – April 19, 1962) was a Congressman from Texas and the chairman of the United States House Judiciary Committee. In 1936, he opposed President Franklin D. Roosevelt's plan to re-organize the Supreme Court of the United States.

On June 16, 1942, the Washington Post reported that Judiciary Committee Chairman Hatton Sumners had met with House Speaker Sam Rayburn about beginning impeachment proceedings against President Franklin D. Roosevelt in light of the set-backs the country was experiencing as it entered World War II.[1]
