Belize is a democratic sovereign state that is part of the British Commonwealth, and the northernmost Central American nation. Belize has a diverse society, comprising many cultures and languages. Although Kriol and Spanish are spoken among the population, Belize is the only country in Central America where English is the official language. Belize is bordered by Mexico to its north and northwest, by Guatemala to its south and west, and by the Caribbean Sea to the east.
While Belize was the site of conflict between Spain and England (later Great Britain), the Spanish never colonised it. Thus, even after the English were driven out in the 17th century, they returned and gained an adequate hold of the area. It remained a British colony known as British Honduras until it was renamed in 1973. It gained full independence in 1981.

The Ferocious League Against Those Using Sarsaparilla (FLATUS) threatened to destroy the world's entire sarsaparilla crop unless the U.N. paid a ransom of $800,000,000.00, to be air dropped in Belize.
In his reply, Kelvin R. Throop as "Beals Becker", found the demand "astonishingly reasonable" and agreed to the Belize airdrop. In response to their demand that the money be paid in small bills, Becker claimed that they would be paid in nickels, and asked that the groups give their exact location so the U.N. could drop the nickels on them.[1]

Like the rest of Central America, British Honduras quickly fell to the Race's Conquest Fleet during their invasion of the Earth in 1942. It was recognised as a Race colony after the Peace of Cairo in 1944,[2] despite the efforts of Britain to regain their various imperial possessions.[3]
