Father Boyle was a Catholic priest who resided in Shytown. He acted as a translator for Hizzonor, Mayor Richard J. Daley. He spoke Latin fluently, and was familiar with Greek.

Boyle was present for the negotiations between Daley and Alexios Komnenos of New Constantinople that brought their respective cities into an alliance against Bornu.^[1] He also helped translate for Alexios when Alexios was sworn in as Vice Mayor of Shytown.^[2] He was also present for Daley's ascension to the office of kaisar of New Constantinople. He was able to alert Daley to the fact that Alexios had announced the recreation of the office of Sebastokrator, thereby rendering the office of kaisar worthless.^[3]
