Eriesky2-1-
Erie is an industrial city on the shore of Lake Erie in northwestern Pennsylvania in the United States. Named for the lake and the Native American tribe that resided along its southern shore, Erie is the state's fourth-largest city (after Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Allentown), with a population of 102,000.

Erie in Southern VictoryEdit

In 1881, during the Second Mexican War, the Royal Navy attempted to bring about a quick conclusion to the war by bombarding US Great Lakes cities. Although their main offensive on the Great Lakes was limited to Lake Ontario, Erie was attacked by the RN after they began to tighten their blockade by sea. The bombardment there set off huge fires in the waterfront district.

In 1942 General Irving Morrell concentrate his forces in built up areas by Lake Erie between Cleveland and Erie, Pennsylvania. This forced Confederate General George Patton to take the cities and towns with his barrels during Operation Coalscuttle since he could not surround them. In turn, this inflicted heavy casualties and slowed Patton's advance on Pittsburgh.

Erie in The War That Came EarlyEdit

Peggy Druce made a speech in Erie in 1941, during her tour of rallying support for the war. While there, she met Matilda Jenkins, the mother of Peggy's old paramour Constantine Jenkins.[1]
