Eleanor Whitney Bull (c 1550 - March 1596) was an English woman of a minor aristocratic family. After her husband's death in 1590, she converted their house in Deptford into an inn. In 1593, the murder of Christopher Marlowe took place at this inn.
Eleanor Bull owned the inn where Lope de Vega stayed, at Sheriff Peter Norris' recommendation, during his search for the fugitive Christopher Marlowe in Deptford. As Norris had said, it served the best Candia malmsey wine. It also had a beautiful garden in the back. Though his business in Deptford was a failure, de Vega found his stay there to be a pleasure.[1]
