The Eastern Orthodox Church is a Christian body that views itself as the historical continuation of the original Christian community established by Jesus and the Twelve Apostles. It also believes itself to be the church which most effectively preserves the traditions of the early church. It strive to adhere to the canonicity of the first seven ecumenical councils held between the 4th and the 8th centuries. It also views itself as having maintained unbroken the link between its clergy and the Apostles by means of Apostolic Succession.

Eastern Orthodox Church in Agent of Byzantium Edit

The Eastern Orthodox Church was the official church of the Byzantine Empire and its patriarch was based in Constantinople. It wielded considerable power there

The Empire made certain that all of its provinces, for example Egypt, followed its example. Mouamet was one of its most famous saints.

Eastern Orthodox Church in "Farmers' Law Edit

During the reign of Constantine V, the Church banned the use of icons, saying that the Bible forbade holy images. This caused the village of Abrostola, a place fond of its icons, to rely on its priest to solve a murder rather the strategos which would have brought attention to the icons.[1]

Eastern Orthodox Church in "Ready for the Fatherland"Edit

Under fascist Croatian rule over the Serbs in the 1970s, the Eastern Orthodox Church was persecuted and the Cyrillic alphabet was forbidden. This was to assimilate the Serbs to Croatian culture, which was largely Catholic and, while speaking the same language, written in the Latin alphabet.
