The Duomo di Milano is the cathedral church of Milan in Lombardy, northern Italy. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Milan.

The Duomo of Milan remained a functioning house of worship, even though the Italian People's Republic was officially atheistic. Annarita Crosetti compared the grim Stalin Gothic of modern apartment blocks to the genuine Gothic of the cathedral and found that while it glorified superstition as her teachers said, it did it well.[1]
A large statue of the late Soviet General Secretary Vladimir Putin stood in front of the Duomo.[2]

The ingrained laxity and inefficiency of everything Italian meant that the Duomo of Milan remained incomplete in AD 2018.
