Drive to the East is a novel by Harry Turtledove published by Del Rey in 2005. It is part of the Southern Victory series.The novel begins with Confederate forces, having split the USA in half with their drive into Ohio, pushing east into the industrial heartland of the United States. Eventually the Confederates are halted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where heavy street-fighting ensues. Under the command of Irving Morrell, US forces pull off an encirclement of the Confederate army by driving through the weaker flanks held by Mexican troops. By the end of the book all CS soldiers within Pittsburgh have surrendered.
