Clio was a black retriever belonging to Jen Barkman. She was named for the Muse of History. On the evening Jen was scheduled to have a date with Steve Whortleberry, Clio developed a noticeable limp in one of her paws. Jen called Steve, and expressing concern about Clio's leg, suggested Steve come to where Jen was staying and have dinner rather than go out.[1]
