Claude Auchinleck in "The Last Article"

Despite the fact that Britain had fallen to Germany in 1941, and all imperial troops were ordered to lay down their arms, Claude Auchinleck and his men fought the forces of Walther Model until 1947. Model described Auchinleck's men as bandits.

His forces being finally overwhelmed and popular support having run out, Auchinleck formally surrendered to Model in New Delhi.

Claude Auchinleck in The War That Came Early

General Claude Auchinleck succeeded Bernard Montgomery as the overall commander of the North African theater of the Second World War in 1943, after Montgomery's plane was shot down.[1]
