Clark Russell Barteau (April 7, 1835 - February 12, 1900) served with the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. In 1864, he commanded the Second Tennessee Cavalry (C.S.). He led it into the Battle of Fort Pillow.

After a morning of fighting, Barteau was ordered by General Nathan Bedford Forrest to take a position along the bank of Coal Creek in order prevent the Union Navy steamer Olive Branch from landing reinforcements. Barteau and his men succeeded in driving the boat back up the Mississippi River. Barteau then ordered Corporal Jack Jenkins to take about half the men back to the fort in anticipation of an actual attack. He also reminded Jenkins that even though many of the men inside Fort Pillow were Negroes, that they were also armed with muskets.
