Charles "Charlie" Lynton (b. ca 1955) was a prominent member of the British Union of Fascists, becoming its head in the mid-1990s. He was one of the first people in the Greater German Reich to push for reform upon the death of Führer Kurt Haldweim. During a BUF convention in 2010, his faction was able to reintroduce elements of democracy back into the party, changing its party rules to allow the membership to elect its leaders. He predicated this move for change largely on the strength of the First Edition of Mein Kampf.[1]
Lynton was eventually installed as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. In 2011, he condemned the attempted Putsch against Heinz Buckliger.[2]
Lynton's speech and mannerisms suggested an old line English aristocrat. Lynton had in fact been born in Edinburgh, Scotland.[3]
Literary Comment
Charlie Lynton is almost certainly named for Anthony Charles Lynton Blair (better known as Tony Blair), Prime Minister of the United Kingdom at the time of the book's writing. Like Lynton, Blair was born in Edinburgh but appears more English than Scottish in his speech and bearing. He was also born in the mid-1950s and became party leader in the mid-1990s. However, unlike Lynton, Blair has never supported fascism.
