Adenauer was born in Prussia? Geez, how old was he?

So he lived through six incarnations of Germany: Prussia pre-unification, Second Reich, Weimar Republik, Third Reich, occupation, West Germany. Every one of them now defunct. Turtle Fan 18:51, December 23, 2009 (UTC)

Quite the impressive feat, no? I do confess to cheating ever so slightly--since the Kingdom of Prussia did continue on with a substantial level of autonomy in the German Empire, I listed everyone born in Prussia before 1918. After World War I, it became just another free state. TR 19:57, December 23, 2009 (UTC)
Living through six governments, impressive? Depends where you are. For an American it would be quite impossible. At most you could have gotten five, if you'd been born between the Appalachians and the Mississippi before 1763: French colony, British colony, emergency government, Articles of Confederation, current US constitution. For a German it's a pretty good feat. For an Italian it's nothing special. For a Haitian it's a matter of course.
1918 as the cutoff--Yeah, that's a bit of a fudge factor. Not that I'm complaining. Turtle Fan 20:12, December 23, 2009 (UTC)
