These people held the office of Governor-General in OTL, or in one or more of the works of Harry Turtledove, or both.

A Governor-General or Governor General is broadly, a representative of an executive authority in an independent real or a colonial state. Typically, but not exclusively, the Governor-General is a vice-regal representative of a monarch. However, republics have also made use of the title in their own colonial endeavors. Depending on the political arrangement of the territory, a Governor General can be a governor of high rank, or a principal governor ranking above "ordinary" governors.

Present-day Governors-General often excercise the functions of the heads of state of the realms or commonwealths over which they preside. Those powers are usually ceremonial at most.
